Eileen and Peter

Peter Langenus, JD, Regis trustee, passed away in January 2020. He and his wife, Eileen McCormick Langenus ’78 (pictured above), are longtime donors and friends of Regis, helping to support students in myriad ways over the years.

As we remember Peter, we celebrate his legacy of providing opportunities to the next generation of scholars. May he rest in peace.

Investing in the future: Eileen McCormick Langenus ’78 and Peter Langenus

The following story about the Langenuses was originally published in Regis Today. Read on to learn more about why the Langenuses are passionate about supporting Regis and its mission.

Investing in the present and future of Regis is a priority for Eileen McCormick Langenus ’78 and her husband Peter Langenus, a Regis trustee. They have been, and remain, exceedingly generous of their time and wisdom, and are among the university’s leading donors. Now that Regis has embarked on its most ambitious endeavor—the Now We Fly campaign—the Langenuses are right there ready to help make it a success.

“What Regis is all about is helping young people get that break,” says Peter. “They’re the same kids coming through the Catholic schools as those who came through 30, 40, 50 years ago. Their parents want the same things that my parents wanted for me or Eileen’s parents wanted for her.”

“I think Regis has always been about that,” Eileen adds. “It’s still the same message, the same helping people who need help financially to get through college. It’s a great experience to be a part of.”

Not only are the Langenuses Regis donors and volunteers, they also host an annual reception in New York City at Christmastime where President Antoinette M. Hays, PhD, RN, visits with top Regis prospects and donors. They do all of this because they believe in Regis.

“It is Regis’ time to fly,” says Peter. “Energized by a dynamic President Hays, we have successfully completed the process of going coed, revitalized and beautified our campus, and created an academic environment that prepares our students for the challenges encountered after graduation.”

Because in the end, it’s all about the students.

“To see students and the way they relate to President Hays, to their professors, to Father Paul [Kilroy] and the staff—it’s wonderful,” says Eileen. “And I think the more alumni and others who come to campus to see that, the more they’ll want to get involved.

“We believe that investing in Regis is investing in the future of America. The dream of a better future can be achieved by supporting our students today.”
