AMBAR RODRIGUEZ '26
EARLY CHILDHOOD MAJOR | SPANISH MINOR
Championing Diversity and Inclusion
Home. From the moment education major Ambar Rodriguez '26 arrived on campus for her tour, she felt an immediate sense of welcome, which solidified her choice to make Regis her home for the next four years.
Thanks to the Regis Diverse Educators Scholarship—a full-tuition, four-year scholarship for students committed to serving underrepresented populations in education—Rodriguez has the chance to pursue her dreams of becoming a teacher.
“I am so grateful for this opportunity to further my education,” says Rodriguez. “Without my scholarship, I wouldn’t have been able to attend college because of the financial obstacles it presents.”
During her freshman year at Lynn Vocational Technical Institute in Massachusetts, she explored 16 trades before choosing early childhood education, a decision she cherishes.
“I met a wonderful young girl with Down syndrome who was the sweetest girl I’ve ever met,” says Rodriguez. “At such a young age, she had a clear sense of self and an eagerness to learn something new every day. Meeting her inspired me to pursue a career in early childhood education.”
Rodriguez hopes to be an inspiration to her future students. “Coming from an underrepresented background myself, I can connect with my students on a deeper level, helping to break down barriers and foster meaningful relationships,” says Rodriguez.
Inspired by her experience during her welcome tour, Rodriguez challenged herself to step out of her comfort zone and became a resident assistant and orientation leader.
“Through these experiences I have built my confidence, enabling me to create a welcoming environment for new students,” says Rodriguez. “Leading orientation this summer was a rewarding experience, and I’m committed to being a supportive resource for incoming students, ensuring they feel safe and valued as they begin their journeys at college.”
