Matthew Cabassa '26, a dedicated nursing student and member of the men’s lacrosse team, embodies the spirit of perseverance and gratitude, all thanks to the scholarship support that has greatly enriched his academic journey.
“My scholarship has made a significant impact on my education, allowing me to immerse myself fully in the college experience,” says Cabassa. “It has alleviated financial burdens, enabling me to focus on my studies without distraction.”
Playing lacrosse has imparted invaluable lessons in teamwork, discipline, and resilience—qualities that transcend the playing field and are integral to a career in nursing.
“Learning to balance academics and athletics has honed my time management and organizational skills, which are essential for my future in healthcare,” says Cabassa, highlighting the dual benefits of his college experience.
Cabassa describes his clinical experiences as enriching, where he applies classroom learning to real-world situations.
“I am grateful for my instructors’ trust, which encourages active participation,” says Cabassa. “Our small cohort fosters a collaborative environment, enhancing both learning and camaraderie, which strengthens our overall experience.”
Cabassa aspires to make a difference in nursing, leveraging the knowledge and skills acquired at Regis to create positive change. His scholarship support has fueled his determination to succeed and make the most of this opportunity.
