Pioneering Pathways in Stem
Colleen Curran '27 is making the most of her time at Regis, thanks to the numerous opportunities her scholarship provides. This includes serving as an orientation leader, participating in both the women's soccer team and the track and field team, and being a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee and the American Medical Student Association—all while impressively completing her first year with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
“My scholarship alleviated a significant financial burden on my family and allowed me to be a more well-rounded student by participating in extracurriculars that will help me grow,” says Curran. “It motivates me to work hard knowing that there are people who believe in me and support my goals—it means so much to me.”
Curran is particularly thankful for the real-world experiences available through on-campus research at Regis, including her internship at the zebrafish laboratory.
“Zebrafish research is at the forefront of so many fields, so I was excited about the opportunity,” says Curran. “I have been able to apply the knowledge I learned in the classroom to the lab, and it has helped me gain confidence in my research skills, which will aid my success in the future.”
Outside of academics, Curran emphasizes the importance of the supportive Regis community in helping her grow and inspiring her to make a meaningful impact after graduation.
“I genuinely believe that the Regis values are more than just words; they are the cornerstone of our community,” she says. “Every member of Regis supports one another, and I think it’s something special that separates us from other institutions.”
Committed to these ideals, Curran plans to attend medical school after graduation to become a neurologist and conduct research to find a cure for Alzheimer's disease.
“I aspire to make a difference in healthcare and have a positive impact on the world,” Curran says. “Everything I have achieved thus far is thanks to the generosity of Regis donors, and I am incredibly grateful.”
