Tell us a little about your journey and how you came to co-found The Social Butterflies Events.
We co-founded The Social Butterflies Events in 2017 with the goal of providing a fresh, innovative approach to event planning and design. Both of us had always been passionate about hospitality and event production. After earning our degrees from Regis College, we merged our skills and experience to build a full-service event management business. Later, we completed our graduate studies at Boston University. We wanted to create a company that would deliver high-impact, memorable experiences for both corporate and private clients.
How did your time at Regis College shape your career?
Our time at Regis College truly set the foundation for our careers. The motto, "Your Potential is Infinite," resonated with us deeply and continues to guide us today. We learned so much about the power of community and collaboration, which has been vital in our event industry work. Regis also instilled in us the values of adaptability, problem-solving, and attention to detail—skills that are absolutely critical in managing high-stakes events. Most importantly, Regis' commitment to service and giving back has inspired us to create events that are both strategic and meaningful.
What was one of your most memorable experiences during your time at Regis?
One of the most memorable experiences we had at Regis was serving on the executive board for the Nostalgia Fashion Show. It was a student-led event, and we were responsible for everything from casting models to organizing logistics and ensuring the event ran smoothly. The experience was a true test of leadership, adaptability, and creativity—all of which we continue to rely on in our current work. The confidence we built during that time has stayed with us and continues to fuel our work at The Social Butterflies Events.
If you could speak to a donor who supported you during your time at Regis, what would you say?
We would express our gratitude. Their generosity not only helped alleviate the financial burden of our education but also gave us the confidence to immerse ourselves in the opportunities at Regis, from leadership roles to shaping our future careers. Their support helped shape who we are today, and we hope to one day pay it forward by supporting future students, just as they did for us.
What has been one of your proudest achievements in your entrepreneurial journey?
One of our proudest achievements is seeing our business grow into a trusted, full-service event planning and design firm. Since launching, we've executed hundreds of events and had the privilege of partnering with top organizations and nonprofits. Notably, some of our projects have included our Soul & Sangria event, the Embrace Statue unveiling reception, the Museum of African American History's Annual Living Legends Gala, and Meet Boston's Annual Meeting (pictured right). These opportunities have helped us establish a reputation for creating seamless, high-impact experiences that leave a lasting impression.
What advice would you offer to current students or recent graduates?
Embrace the journey, even if it feels uncertain. Success isn’t always linear, and it's okay to take detours along the way. Explore new opportunities, network actively, and build genuine relationships because you never know where your next opportunity might come from. Stay open to learning, and never underestimate the power of hard work and resilience. Keep focusing on your passions and trust the process—your potential is truly infinite.
You've had the opportunity to collaborate with fellow Regis alumni in your business. How did those partnerships come about, and what has been the most rewarding part of working with other Regis graduates?
Collaborating with fellow Regis alumni in our business has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Many of these partnerships came about organically through reconnecting with classmates. Regis fosters a strong sense of community and collaboration, which has naturally carried over into how we do business.
The most rewarding part of working with other Regis graduates is the shared values and work ethic we bring to every project. There’s an inherent level of trust, professionalism, and creativity that makes our collaborations work well. There’s something special about building successful events alongside those who share a common foundation. It’s a testament to the strength of the Regis network and the incredible talent within the community.
