Faculty-Led Programs Abroad

Faculty-led programs abroad are academic and experiential learning programs that deliver knowledge and skills that enable Regis students to become agents of social change as well as leaders and advocates in today's complex global society. In 2023, public health students traveled to Chile for a 10-day program with Regis faculty where they learned about the country's culture, history, socioeconomic conditions, and public health infrastructure.
In 2024, students will have the opportunity to embark on an immersive experience to either Bolivia or Italy to expand their horizons and experience learning in different communities around the world. Occasionally, some components of certain faculty-led programs are grant-funded, but travel costs for students are not included. Gifts designated to faculty-led programs ensure that these unique experiences are accessible to students of all backgrounds, and that a lack of funding for travel does not prevent students from applying and ultimately participating in these programs.

Bolivia: Those who are enrolled in Regis’ Interdependence of Healthcare Professionals class will have the opportunity to broaden their worldview as it relates to the role of the healthcare professional. It is a crucial first step in positioning our graduates to do their part in addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goal #3, which is good health and well-being. Students will advocate for equal access to healthcare for all and receive a firsthand experience of Bolivia’s Unified Health System, which will be invaluable in reaching their professional development goals. This experience is funded by the IDEAS Grant, but students can't always fund the travel cost. Gifts of all sizes will help fund this grant for students of all backgrounds.
Estimated cost for one student to attend: $2,800.
Italy: During this two-week program, students will study at the Università Cattolica in Italy, one of Regis’ international partners. Students will participate in a writing class in their Cultural Studies program and they will be integrated into the Università Cattolica summer student population which hails from around the world. This class can satisfy a Regis CORE requirement, making it applicable to all of our students not just those in the School of Arts and Sciences. Effective and appropriate communication is a highly desirable skill sought by today's employers, and Regis students will work not only to broaden their worldview, but also to hone their critical thinking and writing skills.
Estimated cost for one student to attend: $3,100.
Gifts of all sizes on Giving Tuesday will add up to ensure Regis can provide equitable opportunities for students to engage in this transformational experience.
