Lily Wyand ’20 gets emotional when she describes the “bittersweet” feeling she gets when she thinks about graduating from Regis—in her case, a semester early. She will walk with her classmates at Commencement 2020 but looks forward to getting a jump-start on her career.

Q&A with LILY

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR REGIS EXPERIENCE. In addition to academics and my internship, I have five work study positions around campus, I’m a volunteer in the Regis Autism Center, and I participate in the Honors Program and Dance Company. I like to keep myself busy!

HOW HAVE THE REGIS FACULTY AND STAFF SUPPORTED YOU? My various work study and volunteer positions have really given me confidence and broadened the skills that will carry me into my future. From creating laboratory solutions, to supporting others in their studies as a tutor, to furthering my interpersonal skills as a box office attendant in the Fine
Arts Center, I have felt prepared and supported by the Regis faculty and staff.

WHERE ARE YOU DOING AN INTERNSHIP? This past summer I was an intern at Boston Children’s Hospital as a Genetic Counseling and Research Assistant—a dream internship for me that was only possible because of my scholarship. Over the summer I also worked in Regis’ zebrafish facility, and I will continue my work through my last semester, helping to design a new experiment for the genetics class at Regis.

WHAT ARE YOUR BIG PLANS FOR AFTER GRADUATION? I would like to continue my education to become a genetic counselor. Thanks to the staff and faculty and my scholarship support, I am one step closer to graduating with the experience and knowledge I need to pursue my career goals.
